Our week was overflowing with all kinds of apples!
We started off by going on an "Apple Safari", hunting around the block room for different kinds of apples. We found red, yellow and green ones. Each child decided which type of apple they liked best, and we will graph the results next week.
We read the books Johnny Appleseed, Ten Apples Up On Top, and Weekly Reader Clifford Can Count Apples.
We also learned the song "10 Little Apples", which we sang many times!
Ask your kiddo to sing it for you.
10 Little Apples
1 little, 2 little, 3 little apples
4 little, 5 little, 6 little apples
7 little, 8 little, 9 little apples
10 apples just for me!
In math, we sorted "apples" on a mat, using tongs.
In science, we learned about the life cycle of an apple tree.
The kids cut out each picture, then glued them in the correct order.
We also worked on fine motor skills (similar to the sorting activity above), with this exercise from Making Learning Fun. This time, however, we used tweezers. This was a little more challenging for some of the kiddos, but definitely a good workout for those fine motor muscles!
Happy Weekend!
Get ready for some more "apple-y" fun next week!
